We fall in love with our Daddys twice

This week's challenge was to do a layout about our parents!! I really don't have alot of pictures of mom and dad, but I was able to dig out these two which I took at Thanksgiving in 2002. I love my parents and was blessed to grow up in a wonderful home - what they have modeled for me is a Godly, loving, caring marriage. My father treats my mom like a Queen and my mother treats my dad like a King. She cares for him and nurtures his needs, and he does not take advantage of her in any way. He loves her and cares for her and respects and honours her. They speak kind words to eachother and put eachother's needs above their own.

I wish I had taken this example to heart when I got married to my Ex husband. BUT the good news is...I was going to be pickier the second time around. When i was roaming the earth looking for a new boyfriend (ha) I met Dennis. Dennis treats me like a Queen. He truly adores and cherishes me. I must say that the way he treats me reminds me alot of how my father treats my mother. AND don't they say little girls fall in love with men who remind them of their daddy? I'm getting it right this time!! ;)

This next layout I made for no good reason. I realized I hadn't used too much of the beautiful paper that Melissa bought me for Christmas last year and I thought, 'what a shame girl!', so I kicked self in butt and did this tonight. Yes, people...i have a dream. If you read the story behind layout #1, you can guess that the hidden journalling tells of how my Dream for a husband like my Daddy. I found him, but just have to wait patiently. I dream and wait and hope! ;)

Super Sunday

I think I slept about an hour last night. Had fever and chills and just couldn't settle down. I've been coughing alot and had a migraine all day. I decided to take it easy today. I lay on the couch, not doing a whole lot. I had to craft though...so I made these posies while I watched Mystery ER on the learning channel all afternoon. ha! These were fun to make...I may have to make some more!!

Jory and I made Apple Spice cookies last night. We made a tonne of them, so I could bring some to work to share. These are so delicious.

I took these photos of Smudge yesterday. Ha...she was sitting in my Scrapbox. I keep a box on the floor for my big scraps. Guess she thought it was cozy. Cute.

We watched two movies this weekend. First one was the Hulk. Cool movie!! I love Edward Norton and I especially loved the cameo appearance by Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. :) The other movie which was a real gem was Charlie Bartlett. The kids loved it...it had us laughing our butts off...but I mostly liked that Robert Downey jr. was in it too!! He's hot! ;)

It's raining - actually pouring - out today. It's cold and miserable. It's the perfect day to stay in the house, do housework and scrapbook like a mad-woman. I feel bad for Kayla though. She's supposed to go to Saunder's Farm for a birthday party tonight. I wonder if they're still going?

A couple of weeks ago Kayla participated in the Terry Fox Run at school. It's a fundraiser for the Terry Fox Foundation. They support research for Cancer. Here are two layouts I did of her and her friends celebrating for it.

**photo credits to Sarah L. (thank you darling!

This next layout is of Sarah, Cameron and Kayla overlooking the creek watching the ducks while we were camping at Bonnechere this summer. I love these photos.

Jory and I cleaned like freaks today. We found two dead mice in the house...so it freaked us out and we moved everythiing and went nuts. No more mice. UGH. We've been hanging out together because Kayla is at a weekend long sleepover. We don't expect her home until tomorrow. :) I got Jory's custume for Halloween. He's going to be a KING. hahaha...he's got this wicked long white beard and moustache...he's going to look so cool!!

Now...I think I'm going to go bake an apple pie and make some homeade hamburger helper for dinner. Jory and I love macaroni, hamburger, onions and tomato soup (all mixed up together). YUM!

My Friend Sarah

True Friendships are hard to come by.

I've always been the kind of person not to allow myself to get attached to anyone too quickly, because I moved around alot as a chld and it was difficult for me to 'let go'. It was often painful saying goodbye to friends I was connecting to.
That's why I love Sarah so much.

She is the first friend I've ever had that has been there through everything with me. She was there when I was raising my little children. She was there when I was married and doing all the fun family things. She was there the first time my husband told me he didn't love me anymore. She was there when I found out he was being unfaithful. She was there when he left us. She was there when I cried so hard, I'd throw up. She was there when I hadn't eaten for days and needed someone to bring me soup or tea to get enough energy to move off the couch. She was there when I needed to stalk him at his work just to see him. She was there when I had no car - she took me shopping. She lifted my spirits. She told me truth. She kicked my butt when I needed a good whooping. She made me laugh when I became so dreadfully depressed I wanted to die. She took me shopping when I lost so much weight my clothes were falling off. She celebrated with me when I became independent and got my driver's license (actually she took me to my lessons too!). She was there to cheer me on when I ventured into a new area of relationships (yes, dating!). She was there when I was going through court and getting divorced. She was there when I struggled with my new boyfriend. She listened to me drool over him. She listens to me brag about my kids. She offers support, advice and friendship, but mostly she just loves me - just the way I am. AND for that I am grateful. Thank you Lord, for Sarah. I love you GF!

So proud today

I am so stinkin' proud of my beautiful, smart daughter today. She got honour roll for two years in a row today. She also got an unexpected award which thrilled her. She got the Departmental Award of Merit for Gr. 10 Mathematics (for everyday work and everyday life strand). I'm so very proud of her. For those of you who might not know, Kayla has a language based learning disability and a short term memory disability which means she has a really hard time with #'s (adding, subtracting, multiplying etc.,). Part of her disability includes difficulty understanding and retaining abstract ideas. Anyways...short of long answer...this means ALOT to her.

I was so delighted for her that I scrapped two of my favorite pics from my recent stash. Love this layout!

AND in other news...Dennis loved the layout I posted last night, so much that he has asked me to frame it. I love that he loves it so much. :) Perfect ending to a happy day. And now....Grey's Anatomy! Ciao!

Fall is here!

It's been cold out this week. Rain and cold. Last night, as I looked out my bathroom window, I actually saw some snowflakes. Scary thought considering the amount of snow we had last year. I love Fall. I love that it's cooler at night and you can sleep with your flannel pyjamas. I love sitting at the dining room table in my cozies, drinking tea and scrapbooking. So...last night I did just that.

These are pictures of the kids when we went for our Thanksgiving Walk in the woods. It was an uncleared forest on my Dennis's property. The only way we didn't get lost was becuase he had brilliantly spray painted some of the tree trunks white...to mark our path. IT was an excellent adventure!

This next layout is of Kayla and Jory drinking apple cider at the Apple Orchard. Every year, we do the apple picking thing at this one particular farm and afterwards we stop at the barn to eat hot apple donuts and apple cider.

And finally...this layout (which turned out to be one of my favorite layouts thus far) is of Jory. This was also taken on Thanksgiving weekend, on our family walk in the woods.

Only thing I hate about Fall is that it's time to buy new winter supplies for the kids. I need to go shopping this weekend and get new snow boots and gloves etc., It always costs so much money. AND, I really need to go get my new fall boots!!

Hadn't mentioned before, but Kayla is getting an award this week at school for being on the honour roll for last year's grades. I'm so proud. :)

Thanksgiving Weekend

We spent the weekend at D's house. Sunday, I cooked a huge turkey dinner while Dennis helped the kids carve pumpkins. Their pumpkins turned out so awesome! Kayla must have worked on hers for 6 hours. She is pretty meticulous! All three of them worked so hard -- and Dennis was so patient with them! :)

We sat down as a family, prayed and ate together. It was one of those moments I felt so incredibly blessed.

Today, we went on a FALL walk on Dennis' property (in the woods). There were no trails or anything, so we walked through the woods and out the other side to the Farmer's Field. FUN!!!

I know it's bad but we like to do funny things to Nina. We've been playing Blackjack at night and Sunday's ticket into the game meant you had to wear a hat...so we put one on Nina. Haha...ain't she cute?

And thought I'd show you this awesome T-Shirt that Jory designed for his Grade 8 Class. It was for their annual fundraiser! Way to go Jory!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Blessings and abundance of love and bundles of hugs from us to you! xo

Scraplifting

I scraplifted my friend Rebecca! I picked this layout from her gallery. (Which can also be found her blog).

I loved the scalloped edges on this one, the BIG corrugated letters at the bottom and also how she layered smaller letters over the large ones.

I made this layout of Kayla and her two Best Friends using a variety of stuff from my stash. I apologize for the glare. (taking photos indoors is not always the best!)

I love my man!

We've both decided that waiting two weeks to see eachother is just waaaaaaaaaaay too long! I missed Dennis terribly. He missed me. AND i know i've mentioned this probably about a million times before but I have to say this again. That man loves me. I know he loves me. It's an amazing feeling having someone in your life that you KNOW loves you more than anything else in the world. It's an amazing feeling having someone to love. It's amazing being loved back. AND I love that man with all of my breath and being. AND yes, I KNOW he is God's blessing to me. There is no way we met by chance! We are meant to be together. There is no one else that i deserve more than he. I love you Babe.

Kayla has her blog up and running. You can check it out at: http://kreativekayla.blogspot.com She'll probably end up changing the background and all that, but it's a start!! She's posted two videos that she's made so far. You should check it out!

My daughter is awesome!!

Kayla made this greeting card video for her computer tech class at school. I thought this was really cool!!!!
