Clay masks...a new way to abuse myself.

Hahaha...I did the mask thing...been working out and taking care of myself more...since I quit smoking. YEAH, that and because I am bored and it prevents me from choking my ex. (I can't stand him and when i get mad, i wanna smoke, but do this to myself instead.) HA! We thought these were funny.

PS...my legs are so sore. I can barely walk. (Oh the pain feels good!)

It's all done!

I finished the hallway!! I love the farm house red. Makes the hallway look really really cozy now. I added a few pictures and hung a curtain over my 'broken closet'. It looks much tidier now. I LOVE IT!
I'm tired. Body is sore...but got a good workout! :-)

Yay...to new facelifts!

Facelift

I decided to bite the bullet and paint the trim in the hallway. I've been wanting to do this for a very long time, since i hated that other diahrea brown colour we had chosen before. UGH! Anyways, Jory and I spent Saturday afternoon putting on the first coat and it proved to be alot of fun. Smudgie was wondering what the heck we were doing...and looked so cute peering over the edge of the wicker chair in the office. So sweet.

Here's a few pics. I'll post the end results later...gotta go put on the second coat now. :-)

The Awakening

I don't need anybody to 'get this', but I do. And I'm posting it to lift me when I need encouragement.

The Awakening
A time comes in your life when you finally get it...
When in the midst of all your fears and insanity you stop dead in your tracks, and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out - ENOUGH!
Enough fighting, crying or struggling to hold on. And, like a child quieting down after a blind tantrum, your sobs begin to subside, you shudder once or twice, you blink back your tears, and through a mantle of wet lashes you begin to look at the world through new eyes.
This is your Awakening.

You realize that it's time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change or for happiness, safety and security to come galloping over the next horizon.
You come to terms with the fact that she is not Cinderella and you are not Prince Charming and that in the real world there aren't always fairy tale endings (or beginnings for that matter), and that any guarantee of "happily ever after" must begin with you and in the process a sense of serenity is born of acceptance.

You awaken to the fact that you are not perfect and that not everyone will always love, appreciate or approve of who or what you are ... and that's OK. ...They are entitled to their own views and opinions.
And you learn the importance of loving and championing yourself; and in the process a sense of newfound confidence is born of self approval.

You stop complaining and blaming other people for the things they did to you (or didn't do for you) and you learn that the only thing you can really count on is the unexpected.
You learn that people don't always say what they mean or mean what they say, and that not everyone will always be there for you; and that it's not always about you.
So, you learn to stand on your own and to take care of yourself; and in the process a sense of safety and security is born of self-reliance.

You stop judging and pointing fingers ... and you begin to accept people as they are and to overlook their shortcomings and human frailties and in the process a sense of peace and contentment is born of forgiveness.

You realize that much of the way you view yourself and the world around you is as a result of all the messages and opinions that have been ingrained into your psyche.
And you begin to sift through all that you've been fed about how you should behave, how you should look, and how much you should weigh; what you should wear and where you should shop, and what you should drive; how and where you should live, and what you should do for a living; who you should sleep with, who you should marry, and what you should expect of a marriage; the importance of having and raising children, or what you owe your parents.

You learn to open up to new worlds and different points of view, and you begin reassessing and redefining who you are and what you really stand for.

You learn the difference between wanting and needing and you begin to discard the doctrines and values you've outgrown, or should never have bought into to begin with; and in the process you learn to go with your instincts.

You learn that it is truly in giving that we receive. And that there is power and glory in creating and contributing; and you stop maneuvering through life merely as a "consumer" looking for your next fix.

You learn that principles such as honesty and integrity are not the outdated ideals of a bygone era, but the mortar that holds together the foundation upon which you must build a life.

You learn that you don't know everything, it's not your job to save the world ... and that you can't teach a pig to sing.

You learn to distinguish between guilt and responsibility, and the importance of setting boundaries, and learning to say NO.

You learn that the only cross to bear is the one you choose to carry, and that martyrs get burned at the stake.

Then you learn about love, romantic love and familial love.

How to love, how much to give in love, when to stop giving, and when to walk away.

You learn not to project your needs or your feelings onto a relationship. You learn that you will not be more beautiful, more intelligent, more lovable or important because of the man on your arm or the child that bears your name. You learn to look at relationships as they really are and not as you would have them be.

You stop trying to control people, situations and outcomes.

You learn that just as people grow and change, so it is with love... and you learn that you don't have the right to demand love on your terms ... just to make you happy.

You learn that alone does not mean lonely. And you look in the mirror and come to terms with the fact that you will never be a size 5, or 6 feet tall, or a perfect 10, and you stop trying to compete with the image inside your head and agonizing over how you "stack up."

You also stop working so hard at putting your feelings aside, smoothing things over and ignoring your needs. You learn that feelings of entitlement are perfectly OK.... And that it is your right to want things and to ask for the things that you want... and that sometimes it is necessary to make demands.

You come to the realization that you deserve to be treated with love, kindness, sensitivity and respect; and you won't settle for less. You allow only the hands of a lover who cherishes you to glorify you with his/her touch... and in the process you internalize the meaning of self respect.

You learn that your body really is your temple, and you begin to care for it and treat it with respect. You begin eating a balanced diet, drinking more water and taking more time to exercise.

You learn that fatigue diminishes the spirit and can create doubt and fear. So you take more time to rest. And, just as food fuels the body, laughter fuels our soul. So you take more time to laugh and to play.

You learn that for the most part, in life you get what you believe you deserve... and that much of life truly is a self fulfilling prophecy.

You learn that anything worth achieving is worth working for, and that wishing for some-thing to happen is different from working toward making it happen.
More importantly, you learn that in order to achieve success you need direction, discipline and perseverance. You also learn that no one can do it all alone and that it's OK to risk asking for help.

You learn that the only thing you must truly fear is the great robber baron of all time, fear itself. You learn to step right into and through your fears because you know that whatever happens you can handle it, and to give in to fear is to give away the right to live life on your terms.
And you learn to fight for your life and not to squander it living under a cloud of impending doom.

You learn that life isn't always fair, you don't always get what you think you deserve; and that sometimes bad things happen to unsuspecting good people. On these occasions you learn not to personalize things.

You learn that God isn't punishing you or failing to answer your prayers. It's just life happening. And you learn to deal with evil in its most primal state - the ego.

You learn those negative feelings such as anger, envy and resentment must be understood and redirected or they will suffocate the life out of you, and poison the universe that surrounds you.

You learn to admit when you are wrong and to building bridges instead of walls. You learn to be thankful and to take comfort in many of the simple things we take for granted, things that millions of people upon the earth can only dream about -- a full refrigerator, clean running water, a soft warm bed, a long hot shower.

Slowly, you begin to take responsibility for yourself by yourself; and to make yourself a promise to never betray yourself and to never, ever, settle for less than your heart's desire.
And you hang a wind chime outside your window so you can listen to the wind.
And you make it a point to keep smiling, to keep trusting, and to stay open to every wonderful possibility.

Finally, with courage in your heart and with the Creator by your side you take a stand; you take a deep breath, and you begin to design the life that you want to live as best as you can.

I'm so tired...what a week

Glad to get back into routine, but all the partying and late nights has caught up with me. I can barely keep my eyes open.
Work has been extremely hectic. Busy as heck for me. I just see no end in the near future. It's totally discouraging.

This weekend...guessing I'll take the two trees down and the rest of the decorations and clean up this joint. I might venture into painting the trim in the hallway and the stairs...a brick red colour. I'm sick of the puke brown that's on there now.

I made a calendar for Dennis. I ordered it from www.photolab.com IT turned out really awesome. I dressed it up with stickers and other embellishments and personalized the days with comments. I think he'll like it. Hell...I want one. :-)

K...what shall I leave you with tonight?? I took these funny shots of Smudge, hanging out in the grocery bag...after grocery shopping the other night. She is one silly cat...(Did I mention she's in heat again??) (I wanna kick her to timbucktoo, she's driving me nuts!!)

Have a great holiday Brenda!! AND Jacqueline, congrats on your placement. I hope you enjoy your 6 weeks. You'll make lots of wonderful memories. Bring your camera to work! ;)

Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Yesterday was Allison's Birthday. Eight already. Seems like just yesterday I was trying to rest you on my shoulders for our first apple picking date. :-) You were only 5 then. You know it's good when the years start running into eachother. :-) Love you darling. xo

We finally used our new stuff!

Tonight, we had our first sit down meal at the dining room table since Christmas, and so we were able to finally use the 'family' dishes and wine glasses (for our milk). I used the new grill Dennis bought me to cook the pork chops and home fries. Oh my they were good. Check this out! :-)

Holidays almost officially over

Only two more working days and then the kids get ready to go back to school. I can't believe it went by that fast. I remember them coming home from school on the 22nd, "YAY....no school for two weeks!" Where did that time go? Kayla will start exams shortly after she returns to school. Studying and stuff anyways.

I'm so tired. I've been staying up really late working on Luce's scrapbook, and I haven't gotten much of anything else done around the house. Kids have been tidying and stuff. They just busy playing their new video games anyways. :-)

I was looking at Jacqueline's photos over at Facebook and my heart skipped a beat when I saw these. I have always loved these pictures. My daddy. The first one is of Pepere Saulnier and Daddy as an infant. Pepere looks like an ox...big and strong!
The second one of my Dad and Uncle Roger.

Home is where the heart is...

I thought this year, I'd put a little more effort into making my house a little cozier and homey. I never did quite make it just so...since i got seperated shortly after I moved in. I just didn't care much about my house. I'd always hated it, but for some reason, lately i guess I've been okay with it. There is freedom in 'being'. Accepting and literally moving on.

So...last night, the kids and I shopped for scrapbooking supplies. FUN! They had a sale on picture frames at WalMart so I bought a few and tonight I'm going to hang them up on the wall. I did update a few frames in the living room with some new photos - some of my favorites of me and Dennis (the ones I posted yesterday). FINALLY, I have current school pictures of the kids in frames! Slowly, it's coming along.

The kids have been great! When Jory got home he didn't have enough to tell me about how cranky his 'step-mother' was. How 'anal' she is how annoying she is to them. Considering she only had them for 4 days you would think she could 'suck it up' and be extra nice to them for that short period. They are finally starting to see that their Dad puts her before them. They hated going to the 'banks' to help him clean. Said...Dad should have let HER go do them by herself. They had to sit and play their DS games while they cleaned. Going to Dad's ain't all it used to be. I wonder when the next time they will visit.

2007!

I can't believe it's 2007! I was telling Dennis, I was right where I wanted to be on New Year's Eve...after shopping, and visiting Mom and Dad C, we made a delicious home cooked steak dinner, had a few drinks, and watched The Soprano's. We went into town Sunday afternoon and splurged on Season 3, it was the only one we hadn't watched yet. Man...I love that show!

The freezing rain! Glad it melted this morning.

Kids got back home tonight. They are pleased with their new video games, Dad bought them. I'm uploading pictures right now to the online photo lab. I'm gonna make Luce a scrapbook for her birthday and I've only got till Saturday...so i betta bust my butt. Not sure i'm gonna use all 80 pictures I'm sending in to get developed. That'll be one big scrapbook! HEHEHE. Yay...another scrapbook week. :-)

Generally, I make a Resolution NOT to have a NEW YEAR's RESOLUTION but this year I have a few:

1. Quit Smoking
2. Lose Weight
3. Wash Make up off before I go to bed
4. Pay off Credit Card
5. Take lots of pictures and scrapbook more often
