Time for some hats!

We really got spoiled with the weather last week  I knew this would happen.  Today it feels like -15 degrees out and it's freezing!  BRRR!
Had a great weekend.  D bought a new 60 inch Sharp Aquos TV, so we watched movies all day Saturday.  I can't get over the quality of the picture.  BLING!! This weekend we also thought to try out Netflix, which is free for a month just to try...I loved it so much I signed up for it when I got home.  Jory and I watched a new series last night - about zombies.  LOL!  Anyways. we just hooked up the Wii upstairs...there are thousands of movies to choose.  Kayla and Jory are pretty stoked about that.  They even have PINGU and BLUES Clues on there!

So, my crocus are up at D's house.  Next weekend I need to till the earth in the garden and add some manure.  I can't believe it's that time of year.  I'm excited about the garden this year.  Dennis pretty much lets me do what I want with it...but he's so great - he waters it during the week when I'm not there because he loves how it looks.  His house is just so gorgeous...it's the neatest and nicest looking house on the entire street.
I went to the dollarama on Friday and picked up a couple of things for Maddie.  I got her these foam alphabet shapes that stick on the bathtub.  These should make it fun for her to have a bath.

I also just finished ordering a couple of sun hats for her from Etsy.  Etsy is a website where you can buy handmade items.  People all over the world have little shops where they sell things they make.  I know it's probably a little more pricey than buying one at WalMart, but it's handmade and they will last a long time...and they are so unique and original...I couldn't resist.  If we don't lose them, they should last for years!
Here's the first one:
And here's the second one:  They are both totally reversible.

Anyways, I guess I should get to work now.  BUSY as always.  WIll talk soon...hope you are all doing good.  :)

My Garden

I have a special spot in my weekend home (yes, at D’s house) where he lets me have free reign.  I might not be able to do what I want inside but in that garden – it’s a l mine.  Albeit this year, we were not together when it became time to plant the flowers (May) so I started a little later (July).  I love gardening.  It’s one thing I do that reminds me of how amazing God is.  A beautiful flower, full of colour – definitely work of an artist and creationist!

I’m really proud of the way the garden turned out this year.  I bought a couple of flats of half dead annuals and threw them in the dirt, hoping they would catch and actually bloom.  I was scared for a bit, because they were all dead…but after several weeks of TLC they came back to life and this is what became of it.
I swear those Cosmos are from MARS!

I have also always really adored Fall Mums…and so this year, I splurged and bought these gorgeous ones for D’s front step.  They are gorgeous aren’t they?

So go ahead and splurge on the things you’ve always wanted to get, especially if it is something that reminds you of God’s beauty and awesomeness.

We got baby sparrows!

They hatched – they finally hatched!!  The little wee baby sparrows are alive and well.  Here they are, waiting for mama to bring them their dinner.

Isn’t that precious??  They grow so fast.  I’ll bet by the time I go back next weekend, they will have flown the nest.  The robins that were in the back yard, have already flown away and started a new life of their own.  :(  Imagine if our kids grew up that fast ??  ha!

Thought I'd also share these pics of the mini roses I planted in my garden this weekend.

I’m really happy with how well it’s all growing so far.  Every seed has taken and the colours have remained vibrant.  It’s probably because the last four weeks, I think we’ve only had 3 sunny days…lots of rain!!

The cottage that we had a deposit on (the one in Carleton Place)…well … the lady called me on Friday and it’s a no go!  :(  I was so bummed.   The sale of the cottage fell through and they won’t be honouring the bookings.  So…D, booked the same one we had last year.  We’ll be vacationing in Eganville again.  BUT that’s okay because we had a lot of fun there!!

A little inspiration from the garden

There’s a contest going on over at LP – and this week’s challenge (Heat 2, stage 2), was to build a layout based on an advertisement.

It’s pretty amazing how the smallest things can be so inspiring.
Lots of things going on here…the painting, punching out part of the cardstock with my scalloped punch, altering foam alphas with paint, and soft colours.  I love this photo that my son took of one of my favourite flowers – the Black Eyed Susan!

This layout of course, inspired me to take these photos from my back yard.  Aren’t these huge ferns so lush and gorgeous??  I have always loved ferns!

And this purple Iris.  Just gorgeous.

I feel a purple and green layout coming early next week.  ;)
