We started cycling!

033Jory and I often sit around on Saturdays with nothing to do.  I really wanted to go for my walk but I want to involve the kids.  So…we thought we’d go biking.  We took a ride to our old neighbourhood.  It was weird seeing our old house…it looked much smaller than it did when we lived there and the neighbourhood seems more run down than it ever did when we lived there.  The bike path we used to take all the time to go rollerblading or walking seemed smaller than I ever remembered it.  It was a  great feeling though to be there.  Funny thing…I didn’t remember my ex husband or the life we had..what I remembered was playing outside with the kids and taking them for walks.  Memories truly do fade over time.  ;)

032So, on the way back we went in the woods and found the trail back to our place.  It was nice and shaded and much cooler on the way home than it was on the way there.  Note to self…buy helmets, water bottles, bug spray and a thick padding for your bike seat.  My butt is killing me this morning.

Our bike ride was 7.5 kms…in an hour and 15 mins.  I calculated i burned 1200 calories.  Maybe I’ll start biking more often!  ha!

I’m still walking to work and back home every day.   I’m loving that time to myself now too much to give it up – and to tell you the truth, I feel so wonderful about having lost 10 pounds and 4 inches off my waist…there’s no turning back now.

Kayla’s Grad mass is this week.  Today, we are going shopping for a dress for her.  Did I tell you she’s going out with Jeremy again?  Ya, they hooked back up last week.  That is why Jory and I were alone…she went to the fair with him on Saturday and came home with a bunch of stuffed animals and a sunburn.  ha!

Friday, I got my roots dyed and I threw in some blonde highlights.  I like being blonde again – I thought it would be nice for the summer.  What do you think?

I’m doing alright without Dennis.  I still miss him very much and there is not an hour of each day that I don’t think about him – but each week I come closer to the realization that it’s probably for the best.  Everything happens for a reason.

I watched Dear John last night.  I loved the book!  The movie was not 100% true to the book, and that I found disappointing, but for the most part, it was a great movie!  I love Nicholas Sparks.  I wish he’d create me a boyfriend.  ha!  Anyways…off to get some shopping done now…I am going to spend the day with  my baby girl.  :)  Ciao!

Long Weekend – and a catch up!

I’ve been back to work for a week and a half, and YES, i enjoy having my life back to normal.  (If there really is such a thing as normal).  I’ve been pounding away each day…walking my butt off and trying to keep my mind busy, so I won’t think about Dennis.  The nights are quiet and I miss him still, but I know that I will be okay – in time.  I keep remembering all the good times and happiness we shared and it makes my heart extremely sad not to be with him anymore – but then as my friend Sarah tells me, “Remember the bad times too”…so I am, and it’s helping to keep things in perspective.  I just deserve and want so much MORE.

Kayla asked me why I still have his pictures up in my bedroom on the walls and on the nightstand and I just smiled and say, “when I'm completely over him, I'll put them away”, but for now…they are still there.  In the back of my mind I am secretly wishing that he will realize he NEEDS, WANTS and LOVES me more than he lets on.  I won’t hold my breath though!

I watched “UP IN THE AIR” last night – that movie with George Clooney.  And there was this dialogue in the movie…George Clooney ditches everything he’s ever believed in his life to go after the woman he’s fallen in love with – only to discover that she was not what he thought she was.  Her response, “You are an escape. You're a break from our normal lives. You're a parenthesis.”

Parenthesis.  Wow.  That’s totally what I felt like.  A parenthesis.  A break from the mundane of his everyday life…but not the reason for it.  Sucks.  He was my main reason for smiling.  Not the same at all.  Why should I make him my entire world, when I was  just a part of his?

Okay, enough depressing stuff.

Kayla’s friends all went to their PROM this weekend.  She decided she didn’t want to go, mainly because it would have cost me too money…and I’m glad, cuz I would rather save my money for other things.  She had some friends over for a mini put party and a sleepover.  She had fun!

Today, we went for a long hike at Stony Swamp.  We usually go there to feed the birds, but we didn’t see one this time!  It was weird.  Anyways, we walked 6 kms in the heat and we’re totally exhausted right now, so we’re going to relax and watch a movie.  I wanted to take a minute now to wish Mom, David and Stella a very happy birthday!!  We love you all so much and hope you all had a wonderful special day!  xoxoxo.

Here are some pictures from our walk.  Enjoy.

First day back to work!

It was so gorgeous this morning.  I woke up just as the sun was rising.  I got ready for work and headed out the door with my iPod in hand, and my purse on my shoulder.  I can’t remember ever having arrived work in more of a prepared mood than I did this morning.  I vow to walk every day the weather co-operates.   It felt weird to be back at work but kinda refreshing.  I certainly had missed everyone but I also realize I NEED more in my life.  I’m not sure what it is. **maybe I’ll join the gym!

I also got these flowers from a work colleague today.  Made my day.

I’m struggling.  Seems just about every 6 months D and I have this major fight and break up.  This last one, I think will be for good.  If I could face the facts and just accept reality, i would realize it IS over, but I’m not there yet.

I thought I’d be okay with this, but I’m not.  Pray for me, please.  I want a cigarette so bad… (been smoke free for 3 months).  Go away pain!!

Was it my shorts?

I walked 5 km today.  Just recovering from a 24 hour intestinal flu, but I was so determined to get out.  So, I slept in…till like 11 AM this morning and diddle dawdled around the house.  At 2:00 PM, I realized it was getting late in the day and I should get walking before I changed my mind.  So I grab a shower, get dressed and walk out the door, makeup-less, hair hanging down sopping wet.  I threw on a  black tank top and grabbed the first pair of shorts out of my ‘summer clothes’ drawer. I threw on a huge pair of bug eyed sunglasses.  (It gets hot and sunny out there you know!)  I knew I didn’t look good, but I didn’t care.  It’s not a fashion show!  I’m going out there to sweat and get ‘err done!

As I’m walking down the last stretch of road, I see the City Bus that my Kayla and Jory take to school.  This is a special bus, so I knew they were on it.  I wave like a mad woman.  (teehee).  I walk faster to try and meet my kids at home at the same time.  I see them get off the bus, but I’m still about 10 mins away.  I begin to wave like a mad woman again.  When I get home, I find a note on the door. (see pic below)

What??? Was it my bright aqua coloured sweat shorts??  Was it my big bug eyed sunglasses?  Was it my un-straightened hair or makeup-less face?  Was it my shoes??  Was it me swinging my arms, while walking with a huge water bottle in my hands??  What was it???  Please tell me Jory.  What makes me Gay??

“Mom, your shorts are retarded!!  AND you were waving at us!!”

Bwahahahahahaha….Don’t you just love teenagers??   LOL – literally!  I laughed so hard, I think I peed myself.  ha!

  19. You will get nice legs.
  20. You will get your daily dose of Vitamin D.  (sunshine)

I really miss my walk today, but my body is not co-operating with me.  I think I have that flu Kayla had last week, so I thought I better play it safe and let my body rest today.  I’ll do a large walk tomorrow.  :)

Train-Hey,-Soul-Sister-Mp3-Ringtone-Download Speaking of IPODs.  Today I wasted hours fixing my ITUNES, so I can sync my IPOD.  Last year Kayla bought an IPOD touch, so I got her Nano.  Unfortunately, it had all HER old songs on it.  NOT ANYMORE!!!

What are your favourite songs to workout with?  Send me a suggestion.  I might like to add it to my playlist.  :)  My favourite song right now is HEY SOUL SISTER by Train.
