Updating my computer

It’s been a while since I turned my laptop on.  At the old house, I always had it on so it was easily accessible and ready to go whenever I had the urge to update.  Not at the new house.  When you downsize you have to put things away – and you tend to forget you own certain things.  Ha!  So, last night when I turned on my computer it did a few hours worth of updates.  Dang it!  Tonight, when I opened up my Live Writer to publish this post, I also had to do a Windows Live update.  I’ve realized how slow this computer has become.  I think I will put an IPAD at the top of my wish list, when I have some extra money.

Anyways, I downloaded over 200 photos from my iPhone, which means I have about 200 photos I need to share with you all.  (Just kidding, I won’t do that to you).  Ha.

So, let’s start with sharing a few of my favourite photos of the kids…which I’ve taken in the past year.   Enjoy!

Kayla’s Graduation Mass

No big secret that I sent my kids to a Catholic School.  I really enjoyed going to Catholic Schools when I was growing.  I wanted my children to grow up ‘in the world’ so they could know of it, but still be free to learn and share about God.  The Catholic School has done my kids good!  I am so proud of them – and who they’ve grown up to be.  They have strong principles, moral convictions and a large amount of empathy.  I am soooo proud of them.  Today was no exception.

My Baby girl is 17, and graduating Grade 12 this year.  Today was the Graduation Mass.  It was really special – the priest (who was just a young priest) was motivational and quite inspirational with his message to the grads.  “Make God a priority in your life”.  It truly was a special mass.

Syd and Claudia came with me to attend, and we had the opportunity to see Kayla in her Sunday best and to see her with all her friends.  The actual graduation ceremony will be June 23rd, but today was just a pre-cursor.  My gorgeous baby girl.

Long Weekend – and a catch up!

I’ve been back to work for a week and a half, and YES, i enjoy having my life back to normal.  (If there really is such a thing as normal).  I’ve been pounding away each day…walking my butt off and trying to keep my mind busy, so I won’t think about Dennis.  The nights are quiet and I miss him still, but I know that I will be okay – in time.  I keep remembering all the good times and happiness we shared and it makes my heart extremely sad not to be with him anymore – but then as my friend Sarah tells me, “Remember the bad times too”…so I am, and it’s helping to keep things in perspective.  I just deserve and want so much MORE.

Kayla asked me why I still have his pictures up in my bedroom on the walls and on the nightstand and I just smiled and say, “when I'm completely over him, I'll put them away”, but for now…they are still there.  In the back of my mind I am secretly wishing that he will realize he NEEDS, WANTS and LOVES me more than he lets on.  I won’t hold my breath though!

I watched “UP IN THE AIR” last night – that movie with George Clooney.  And there was this dialogue in the movie…George Clooney ditches everything he’s ever believed in his life to go after the woman he’s fallen in love with – only to discover that she was not what he thought she was.  Her response, “You are an escape. You're a break from our normal lives. You're a parenthesis.”

Parenthesis.  Wow.  That’s totally what I felt like.  A parenthesis.  A break from the mundane of his everyday life…but not the reason for it.  Sucks.  He was my main reason for smiling.  Not the same at all.  Why should I make him my entire world, when I was  just a part of his?

Okay, enough depressing stuff.

Kayla’s friends all went to their PROM this weekend.  She decided she didn’t want to go, mainly because it would have cost me too money…and I’m glad, cuz I would rather save my money for other things.  She had some friends over for a mini put party and a sleepover.  She had fun!

Today, we went for a long hike at Stony Swamp.  We usually go there to feed the birds, but we didn’t see one this time!  It was weird.  Anyways, we walked 6 kms in the heat and we’re totally exhausted right now, so we’re going to relax and watch a movie.  I wanted to take a minute now to wish Mom, David and Stella a very happy birthday!!  We love you all so much and hope you all had a wonderful special day!  xoxoxo.

Here are some pictures from our walk.  Enjoy.

Happy Birthday Stephanie!

Friday, Stephanie turned 18!!  Hard to believe.  I remember when Stephanie was born, I was pregnant with Kayla and Stella was a Godsend to me many times because she became the person I’d call to find things out!  :)  Anyways, i remember how tiny she was and how cute.  Now she’s still cute, but she’s tall and beautiful!  They really do grow so quickly.  Kayla enjoyed spending some time with Stephanie over the weekend to celebrate her birthday.  She had a tremendous time!

I made her this album.  She really liked it.

** I apologize for the colouring on some of these photos…they are slightly skewed due to poor lighting.

And here is a close of the journaling jotters I made/stamped.
Notice…yet another great way to use the leftover Prima Packaging…and recycle.  Great Tip for Earth Day!  :)009
The rest of the weekend was grand.  Sens lost against the Penguins in the first round of the playoffs.   So disappointing.  They tried hard though.

I finally drove!  I went out to see Dennis this weekend.  I needed to get away and change the scenery.  It was so fun and I have been really feeling good.  In fact, today I walked 45 mins around the neighbourhood and just soaked up the sun and sunshine and listened to the birds.  I am getting so tired of doing nothing and being inactive.  I’m looking forward to getting back into shape.  :)
I actually started a new blog today, to inspire myself and motivate myself back into shape.  It’s all about my walking!!
You can find it here.

Today, I feel good about me.   Tomorrow will be even better.  :)

Earth Day

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

There’s that famous saying we follow when we go camping:

“Take nothing but pictures.
Leave nothing but footprints.
Kill nothing but time.”

Happy Earth Day!  AND in honour of Earth Day, I thought I’d share a few ‘earthy’ type pictures i took while we were out on a walk or at camping!  (I found these while browsing through the laptop…and don’t think I’ve shared them before.  :)
